(cup) Cake Monday!

20 Sep

Today we have ‘black bottom’ cupcakes, a chocolate cupcake with sweetened cream cheese (w/chocolate chips poked in as well) in the middle/filling/top. The tray of them looks like this:

I haven’t tried them yet, but I fear they are undercooked. The recipe calls for them to be browned a bit, with the top feeling ‘spongy’. Mine are a little less cooked than that. Also, I crammed way too much cream cheese filling in there, because I had extra and, well, it weren’t doin’ no one a bit ‘o good in the bowl.

Hope your Monday is going sweet, creamy, and delicious.

Dee-licious. Definitely not undercooked. And apparently there’s no such thing as “too much cream cheese filling.”

Yay! Ms. E makes her presence known on the blog!

Interestingly enough, I am right this moment outside a bakery in South Lake Tahoe. Somebody was shrieking intermittently all the way here, and of course calmed down upon arrival, which was 5 min before the bakery opened… So now I have an almost-asleep squiggler in my lap, a now-open bakery 20 feet away, and no way to get inside without disrupting our new-found father and som tranquility. Oh, and we’ve been up since 4:20 local time. That’s the less fun 4:20 BTW.

So enjoy your delicious choco-cream-cheese cupcakes, during this life chapter wherein the only shrieking is of the choco-cream-cheese-delight variety…

As I’ve said before, we have already put in our order for a non-shrieking child. The good, ‘seen but not heard’ kind, that says ‘sir’ and ‘ma’am’ and brings in my slippers and the paper. Actually more like a polite, well-trained dog, really. Your child’s bad moods are obviously a reflection of poor parenting and lack of maternal love (alas, it always gets blamed on the mother).

Btw, last night, E. basically came to the conclusion that I established this whole blog as a brazen attempt to make fun of her in public.

    1) yeah, isn’t it great how any problems always get blamed on Mom? The bar is still pretty low for paternal involvement, here in 2010. I get mad street cred for changing the occasional diaper, yo.

    2) I personally think you’ve made Ms. E look more reasonable than you, most of the time. Of course, she doesn’t get much of a say, beyond comments. Ivy seems scandalized, occasionally, when your differences of opinion make it on the blog…
