Looking forward to Sesame Street

7 Sep

Look people, we’re going to have a talk about how much TV to let our currently-incubating little on in on. Frankly, we watch too much TV, and I cannot realistically see a world where we cut back 99% on that. But I do think it would be awesome to watch less, and better, television. Thing is, if you stop watching TV, you are basically announcing to your friends and neighbors that you’ve become a smug, upper-middle class asshole who is so superior to everyone else that you don’t even bother with TV. If you’re that guy, you probably don’t see movies, you see films. You probably go to the cinema.

This is all to say that I like Sesame Street, and in particular if they could do more with Ricky Gervais, I’d be delighted:

Actually, if they could bring back Paul Simon and have him do this awesome song next to an awesome little girl, I’d be into that as well:

My better angels know that less TV means less consumerism, means less stuff, means happy Peter. But my demons like me some Sesame Street!

You do realize that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends ZERO television for children under the age of 3, right? RIGHT?

What kind of awful parent are you, anyway?
